1958 Crowley's Dairy "NAME THE BOY" Contest Entry Blank/Rules Mt Vernon NY

$ 5.01

Availability: 31 in stock
  • Date of Creation: 1958
  • Original/Reproduction: Original
  • Condition: Find another one of these! I found this one folded up inside a 1958 letter a Binghamton, New York, lady sent to her college-bound nephew. Given the entry blank's pristine condition (except for fold creases, this is crisp and bright with zero brittleness. Would frame beautifully!), the nephew obviously did not enter the contest. Examine scans and read description for a full transcription of the front and back of this single-sheet form.

WIN a 4 year SCHOLARSHIP! or other Valuable PRIZES in CROWLEY'S "Name the Boy" contest
    PRIZES
FIRST PRIZE: 4 year College Scholarship - ,000 per year.
15 ADDITIONAL PRIZES: each for 0 worth of Crowley's fresh fresh dairy foods.
Here's an easy way to win a four year scholarship worth ,000 each year to the college of your choice - - for yourself, or, if you prefer, for some deserving youngster!
This is all you have to do: Name the little Crowley's boy you see above! The name can be as simple or as unusual as you like - - all names have an equal chance of winning. After you choose a name for the Crowley's boy, simply complete the sentence "I like Crowley's fresh fresh dairy foods because . . ." in 25 words or less, and send in your entry. Each entry must be accompanied by any part of a container cap or label. Submit as many entries as you like, but be sure to send a proof of purchase with each one. Entries must be postmarked no later than midnight, May 24, 1958.
    RULES:
    1. On the official entry blank, or on a plain piece of paper, suggest the name which you think
is best suited for the familiar cartoon character who appears in Crowley's advertisements,
the little boy pictured on the reverse. Then complete in 25 words or less the statement,
"I like Crowley's fresh fresh dairy foods because..." Be sure your name and address is
    shown clearly on your entry.
    2. Send as many entries as you wish. Each entry must be accompanied by any part of a cap, container, or label from any Crowley's product.   Entries must be postmarked by May 24, 1958 and received by May 31, 1958.
    3. All entries will be judged by The Reuben H. Donnelley Corporation on the originality, sincerity and aptness of thought of both the name and the statement. Only one prize will be awarded to a family and the judges' decision is final. Duplicate prizes will be awarded in the event of ties. All entries become the property of Crowley's Milk Company to use as it may see fit and submitting an entry constitutes permission to do so. No entries will be returned.
    4. Contest open to everyone living in New York, Mass., and Pa. except employees of Crowley's Milk Company, its affiliates, advertising agencies, distributors and their immediate families. Entries must be the original work of the contestants submitted in their own names except that immediate members of a family may collaborate in submitting entries. Contest subject to all governmental regulations.
    5. The contestant submitting the best entry will receive a scholarship totaling ,000 for each of four years to the college of his choice. This scholarship may be awarded, at the winner's option, to anyone he designates in the event that the winner does not choose to use it himself. Additional prizes, each entitling the winner to 0 worth of Crowley's dairy products, will be awarded to the 15 next best entries. These additional prizes may be used either as credit in a retail store carrying Crowley's products or as credit direct with Crowley's Milk Company if the winner lives on an established Crowley's home delivery route. Credit is good for one year only. Winners will be notified by mail or in person within thirty days of the close of the contest. Shortly thereafter the list of official winners will appear in local newspapers. Official winners lists will be sent to those requesting upon receipt of a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
